DEF CON can be overwhelming, with thousands of hackers, dozens of tracks, and endless parties, talks, and competitions. So, how do you turn that chaos into a meaningful community?
The DC32 Social Engineering Community Village Vishing competitors, Rizz Kitties, Edna Jonsson and Dylan "The Magician" Baklor, will share their not-so-secret tips how you can social engineer your way to make new friends. They will share how to use your social engineering powers for good to build long-lasting relationships at DEF CON and any conference that you may attend.
Whether you鈥檙e a first-time attendee or a DEF CON veteran looking for opportunities to learn more, this talk offers practical tips for:

听"The Magician鈥 Baklor is a cybersecurity professional, storyteller, and social engineering enthusiast known for his quick wit and sleight-of-hand charm, on the phone and off. A competitor in the Social Engineering Community Village Vishing Competition at DEF CON 32 as part of the dynamic duo Rizz Kitties, Dylan blends technical insight with human-centric tactics to understand how and why people fall for scams. Whether he鈥檚 unraveling MSP security gaps in a phishing pretext or pulling community connections out of thin air, Dylan brings a touch of mischief and a whole lot of heart to the cybersecurity world.
(they/them) is a dedicated cybersecurity professional, privacy advocate and social engineering competitor with a passion for building strong communities and even stronger pretexts. Edna is part of the Rizz Kitties social engineering competition team, that debuted at DC32 in the Social Engineering Community Village Vishing competition. Edna blends technical acumen with people-focused strategy, both in the call booth and in real life. They鈥檙e also a mentor, content creator, podcaster at Security Chipmunks and tireless advocate for helping newcomers find their footing in the infosec world. Recently, Edna's expertise and dedication were recognized when their team secured first place in the Capture The Flag (CTF) competition at the Wild West Hackin' Fest Mile High 2025. Whether they鈥檙e leading a class, crafting a phishing scenario, or organizing a cyber club meetup, Edna brings clarity, curiosity, and just the right amount of chaos.
